Collin County

Old Decator, Maxwell’s Branch, Then Murphy

Settlers came to Murphy in 1846 for Peters colony land grants. The townsite was first called Old Decator, and later Maxwell’s Branch.

When the St. Louis Southwestern Railway reached the area in 1888, folks renamed the town for William Murphy, who gave land for the tracks and a depot. For the next seventy years Murphy was a shipping point for farmers and stock raisers. Starting in the mid-1970s, businesses in Plano and Richardson turned it into a commuter town, and it grew from 136 people in 1970 to 21,013 by 2020.

We inspect the whole tree, root flare included, before we recommend anything, and we’ll tell you when a tree doesn’t need work yet. The right work, done right.

Collin County

Emerald Ash Borer Is Here

EMERALD ASH BORER. It’s confirmed in Collin County. Texas A&M Forest Service confirmed it here in 2024, and the Forest Service says infested trees die within two to five years. If you have an ash tree in Murphy, that’s worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk. Whether an ash is worth protecting, and what that would take, is a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.

Our Standard

The Arborwise™ Way

Six standards, on every job in Murphy, whether it is one limb or a full removal.

01

Safety Comes First

Safety is not optional on an Arborwise™ job. Required PPE, proper rigging, controlled cuts, and a crew that speaks up the moment something looks unsafe. No job is worth someone getting hurt.

02

We Don't Cut Corners

Doing it right sometimes takes longer. We do not rush an unsafe cut, skip PPE, or leave a bad cleanup because it is faster. Good tree work is deliberate.

03

Your Property Matters

Every yard belongs to someone who trusted us to be there. We protect your driveway, your landscaping, and your trees with the right cuts and the right decisions, not just the fastest ones.

04

The Little Things Count

We keep our equipment maintained, our loads secure, and we pick up the small sticks most crews leave behind. We leave every property better than we found it.

05

We Look Out For Each Other

Arborwise™ is a crew, not a collection of individuals. We communicate, watch for hazards, and speak up for one another on every single job.

06

Even When It's Harder

The Arborwise™ Way is not always the fastest way. It is the right way, even when it takes longer, and even when nobody is watching.
