Celina is really two tree care markets in one, and the work looks completely different depending on which side of town you are on.
In the new developments we are mostly doing establishment work, structural pruning on young trees and correcting planting depth and staking. Out on the older county properties there are legacy oaks, with plenty of ash and elm mixed in, that have been standing through decades of North Texas weather and now carry storm scars, deadwood, and sometimes serious internal decay. Those trees deserve a real assessment before anyone recommends taking them down.
Blackland Prairie clay runs through most of this region, and it behaves in a way that catches people off guard. It holds water tight through a wet spell and then cracks hard in a drought, and that swelling and shrinking works on a root plate year after year. It does that underneath, over years, where nobody can see it, which is why we look at the root flare and the lean before anything else. We inspect the whole tree, root flare included, before we recommend anything.

Not one of the fastest. The fastest, first in the nation, and Celina has taken that title twice. The Census clocked the growth at 24.6 percent between July 2024 and July 2025, the highest rate of any city in the country over twenty thousand people. Six thousand people lived here in 2010. It was 64,427 in July 2025.

What matters for trees is how it grew. Celina had land. The new neighborhoods went out onto open ground rather than over the top of the town, so the established trees are still standing right where they always were. Oaks, ash and elm on the older places, along the creeks and out on the county roads, with decades on them.
Alongside those, thousands of young trees have gone in the ground in just the last few years. They were planted at the same time, so they reach the same milestones at the same time. Stakes that should have come off two seasons ago. A first structural prune nobody scheduled. A root flare sitting an inch too deep, which does not show for years and then does.
That is two completely different jobs inside one city, and we do both here.
Nine state football championships, the ninth in 2024. That ties Celina for third most in Texas high school history, behind only Aledo and Carthage. Then in April 2026 the girls won a fifth straight soccer title, the first team in Texas ever to do it.

We bring it up because a town does not hold onto that while it quadruples in size unless the people here care about the place. Celina is a big city on paper now and it still behaves like a small one.
Our trucks are in Celina most weeks. A good share of that is HOA work, scheduled across whole neighborhoods rather than one tree at a time, which means we are usually already out here when a homeowner calls.
EMERALD ASH BORER. It's confirmed in Collin County, and the county is under quarantine, which restricts moving ash wood and nursery stock out of it. Ash is one of the most common trees we work on out here, so if you have one in Celina, that's worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk, and by the time you can see it from the driveway the tree has been fighting it a while. Whether it's worth treating, and what that would take, depends on how far along it is. That's a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.
