Hunt County

It Started With A Mill On Oyster Creek

Wolfe City was settled in the late 1860s or early 1870s, when Lemuel Pinckney Wolfe built a mill near the banks of Oyster Creek. For a while farmers called it Wolfe’s Mill. By 1882, when the post office came, the name was Wolfe City.

The town incorporated in 1887, the same year the Santa Fe tracks arrived and made it a shipping point for area farmers. By 1892 it had 1,800 people and sixty businesses, including a bank, a foundry, the Sentinel Chronicle newspaper, two gristmills and two cotton gins. It sits where State Highways 34 and 11 meet, seventeen miles north of Greenville in north central Hunt County.

We inspect the whole tree, root flare included, before we recommend anything, and we’ll tell you when a tree doesn’t need work yet. The right work, done right.

Hunt County

Emerald Ash Borer Is All Around Hunt County

EMERALD ASH BORER. As of June 2026, Texas A&M Forest Service lists forty confirmed Texas counties, and Hunt County is not one of them. Collin, Rockwall, Delta and Hopkins are, and all four share a border with Hunt. The Forest Service says infested trees die within two to five years. If you have an ash tree in Wolfe City, that’s worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk. Whether an ash is worth protecting, and what that would take, is a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.

Our Standard

The Arborwise™ Way

Six standards, on every job in Wolfe City, whether it is one limb or a full removal.

01

Safety Comes First

Safety is not optional on an Arborwise™ job. Required PPE, proper rigging, controlled cuts, and a crew that speaks up the moment something looks unsafe. No job is worth someone getting hurt.

02

We Don't Cut Corners

Doing it right sometimes takes longer. We do not rush an unsafe cut, skip PPE, or leave a bad cleanup because it is faster. Good tree work is deliberate.

03

Your Property Matters

Every yard belongs to someone who trusted us to be there. We protect your driveway, your landscaping, and your trees with the right cuts and the right decisions, not just the fastest ones.

04

The Little Things Count

We keep our equipment maintained, our loads secure, and we pick up the small sticks most crews leave behind. We leave every property better than we found it.

05

We Look Out For Each Other

Arborwise™ is a crew, not a collection of individuals. We communicate, watch for hazards, and speak up for one another on every single job.

06

Even When It's Harder

The Arborwise™ Way is not always the fastest way. It is the right way, even when it takes longer, and even when nobody is watching.
