Named For A Railroad Secretary

Richardson was laid out in 1873, when the Houston and Texas Central Railroad passed by the older settlement of Breckinridge. It was named for Alfred Stephen Richardson, the railroad’s secretary.

After the Civil War, farmers here moved from wheat to cotton, and an electric cotton gin replaced the old steam gin in 1912. Richardson incorporated on June 22, 1925, with about 400 people. Texas Instruments and Collins Radio arrived after World War II, Central Expressway came through in 1954, and the town took off: 1,288 people in 1952 and about 120,000 by 2020. It sits on US 75 about fourteen miles north of downtown Dallas, in both Dallas and Collin counties.

We inspect the whole tree, root flare included, before we recommend anything, and we’ll tell you when a tree doesn’t need work yet. The right work, done right.

Emerald Ash Borer Is Here

EMERALD ASH BORER. It’s confirmed in both Dallas and Collin counties, and Richardson sits in both. As of June 2026, Texas A&M Forest Service lists forty confirmed Texas counties, and both are on the list. The Forest Service says infested trees die within two to five years. If you have an ash tree in Richardson, that’s worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk. Whether an ash is worth protecting, and what that would take, is a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.

Our Standard

The Arborwise™ Way

Six standards, on every job in Richardson, whether it is one limb or a full removal.

01

Safety Comes First

Safety is not optional on an Arborwise™ job. Required PPE, proper rigging, controlled cuts, and a crew that speaks up the moment something looks unsafe. No job is worth someone getting hurt.

02

We Don't Cut Corners

Doing it right sometimes takes longer. We do not rush an unsafe cut, skip PPE, or leave a bad cleanup because it is faster. Good tree work is deliberate.

03

Your Property Matters

Every yard belongs to someone who trusted us to be there. We protect your driveway, your landscaping, and your trees with the right cuts and the right decisions, not just the fastest ones.

04

The Little Things Count

We keep our equipment maintained, our loads secure, and we pick up the small sticks most crews leave behind. We leave every property better than we found it.

05

We Look Out For Each Other

Arborwise™ is a crew, not a collection of individuals. We communicate, watch for hazards, and speak up for one another on every single job.

06

Even When It's Harder

The Arborwise™ Way is not always the fastest way. It is the right way, even when it takes longer, and even when nobody is watching.
