A Name Drawn From A Hat

The Texas and Pacific Railway built a section house here in 1881, and the place was named Onega. It wasn’t a popular name. Aubrey was drawn from a hat to replace it, and a post office charter was granted, to be run out of the depot.

Lemual Noah Edwards, a Civil War veteran from Alabama, gets the credit for founding the town. When the first businesses, east of the tracks, burned in 1887, the town was rebuilt west of them, partly on land Edwards donated. By 1920 Aubrey had more than thirty businesses and 700 people, and by the 1980s peanuts had replaced cotton as the top crop. It sits in the Cross Timbers, twelve miles northeast of Denton.

Denton County

Emerald Ash Borer Is Here

EMERALD ASH BORER. It’s confirmed in Denton County. As of June 2026, Texas A&M Forest Service lists forty confirmed Texas counties, and Denton is one of them. The Forest Service says infested trees die within two to five years. If you have an ash tree in Aubrey, that’s worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk. Whether an ash is worth protecting, and what that would take, is a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.

Our Standard

The Arborwise™ Way

Six standards, on every job in Aubrey, whether it is one limb or a full removal.

01

Safety Comes First

Safety is not optional on an Arborwise™ job. Required PPE, proper rigging, controlled cuts, and a crew that speaks up the moment something looks unsafe. No job is worth someone getting hurt.

02

We Don't Cut Corners

Doing it right sometimes takes longer. We do not rush an unsafe cut, skip PPE, or leave a bad cleanup because it is faster. Good tree work is deliberate.

03

Your Property Matters

Every yard belongs to someone who trusted us to be there. We protect your driveway, your landscaping, and your trees with the right cuts and the right decisions, not just the fastest ones.

04

The Little Things Count

We keep our equipment maintained, our loads secure, and we pick up the small sticks most crews leave behind. We leave every property better than we found it.

05

We Look Out For Each Other

Arborwise™ is a crew, not a collection of individuals. We communicate, watch for hazards, and speak up for one another on every single job.

06

Even When It's Harder

The Arborwise™ Way is not always the fastest way. It is the right way, even when it takes longer, and even when nobody is watching.
