Named For A Grove You Could See For Miles

Pilot Point is named for its spot on top of a ridge that could be seen from a distance. A grove of oak trees with one tall cottonwood in the center was used as a landmark by Indians, Texas Rangers, scouts and early settlers.

Dripping Springs, just north of the hill, drew settlers as early as 1845. James Pierson laid off the town plat on February 11, 1854, and the post office opened in 1855, with general store owner James D. Walcott as postmaster. The Texas and Pacific Railway arrived in 1880, and by 1890 Pilot Point had 1,090 people. Emil and Joseph Flusche encouraged German Catholic families to settle here, and St. Thomas Catholic Church held its first mass on November 4, 1891. The town sits at US 377 and Farm Road 455, eighteen miles north of Denton.

We inspect the whole tree, root flare included, before we recommend anything, and we’ll tell you when a tree doesn’t need work yet. The right work, done right.

Denton County

Emerald Ash Borer Is Here

EMERALD ASH BORER. It’s confirmed in Denton County. As of June 2026, Texas A&M Forest Service lists forty confirmed Texas counties, and Denton is one of them. The Forest Service says infested trees die within two to five years. If you have an ash tree in Pilot Point, that’s worth knowing now rather than later. Usually the first sign is the top of the canopy thinning out, then shoots coming out low on the trunk. Whether an ash is worth protecting, and what that would take, is a conversation to have standing in front of the tree, not over the phone. Walking your ash and telling you which one you have costs you nothing.

Our Standard

The Arborwise™ Way

Six standards, on every job in Pilot Point, whether it is one limb or a full removal.

01

Safety Comes First

Safety is not optional on an Arborwise™ job. Required PPE, proper rigging, controlled cuts, and a crew that speaks up the moment something looks unsafe. No job is worth someone getting hurt.

02

We Don't Cut Corners

Doing it right sometimes takes longer. We do not rush an unsafe cut, skip PPE, or leave a bad cleanup because it is faster. Good tree work is deliberate.

03

Your Property Matters

Every yard belongs to someone who trusted us to be there. We protect your driveway, your landscaping, and your trees with the right cuts and the right decisions, not just the fastest ones.

04

The Little Things Count

We keep our equipment maintained, our loads secure, and we pick up the small sticks most crews leave behind. We leave every property better than we found it.

05

We Look Out For Each Other

Arborwise™ is a crew, not a collection of individuals. We communicate, watch for hazards, and speak up for one another on every single job.

06

Even When It's Harder

The Arborwise™ Way is not always the fastest way. It is the right way, even when it takes longer, and even when nobody is watching.
